Arthritis Foot

Arthritis is extremely common – but not so easily understood – because it’s not a single disease. Instead, there are over 100 different types of arthritis, many of which affect the foot and ankle. The most common form of Arthritis that many of us will face as we age is Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is where cartilage (the protective covering over the ends of your bones) becomes thin and starts to wear away and bone to bone starts rubbing. This can result in severe pain with mobility. The mid-foot and toe joints are prone to Osteoarthritis due to many moving joints as result of medial arch pronation.

Common symptoms of arthritis are characterized by stiff joints, loss of mobility, and aching muscles. The big toe, mid-foot, and ankle are common areas of discomfort. Certain types of arthritis – such as rheumatoid arthritis – may damage the joints in the foot leading to bunions, corns, and hammertoes.

Our Pain Relief Solutions

We have designed our PodSoles orthotics to increase comfort and add stability – as well as decrease pressure on overworked joints and muscles. As our mid-foot contains many joints, the high arch support in our orthotics reduces the pronation of these joints thus reducing further wear and tear of the joint.
